The Dyslexia Association of Singapore is a non-profit organization that works closely with Singapore government to help dyslexics achieve. Having hired its first teacher to support a class of 12 dyslexic students in 1993, the DAS now has a multi-disciplinary team of 70 specialist psychologists, educational therapists and speech and language therapists who condunct assessments and therapy for over 1200 children from the ages 6 - 17 in our eight learning centres in Singapore. The DAS also provides professional traning in the identification and support of dyslexic children. Since the DAS Training Service was initiated in 2003, more than 3000 parents, mainstream teachers and educational professionals have attended various DAS Certificate and Diploma courses and workshops. DAS has also responded to the professional needs of like-minded organizations in the region and have conducted training and talks in Malysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Dubai. With this Conference, the DAS seeks to facilitate the sharing of information and knowledge so as to build greater capability for the support of dyslexica and other learning differences in SIngapore.
